Need a stroller for two? If you're expecting twins or getting ready to welcome baby number two (and will soon need to transport both an infant and a toddler, for example), a solid double stroller is likely high on your shopping list.
If you have more than one child, it’s nearly impossible to get out of the house for a walk or outings to the mall or park without a double stroller. These roomier strollers not only help get your kids from point A to point B safely and without any pleas to be carried, but a double stroller also helps lug all your stuff — and, after all, two kids means twice the gear.
Choosing the best double stroller
Finding the best double stroller for your family will depend on your situation. If you’re having twins and need a double stroller that will fit two infants, you might need one that’s convertible to fit two car seats or can accommodate two newborn bassinet attachments.
On the other hand, if you’re toting around an infant and a toddler, you’ll need to pay closer attention to height and weight limits.
Types of double strollers
- Side-by-side double strollers: As you probably guessed from the name, these double strollers have seats that are positioned next to each other. In side-by-side double strollers, both children are seated at the same level, and both seats are usually the same size. This type of double stroller is generally easy to turn and maneuver and fit easily into most car trunks. However, side-by-side double strollers are wide and can be a tight squeeze through narrow doorways and aisles.
- In-line double strollers: This type of double stroller has two seats, one in front of the other in a single file. Often, one seat is raised higher than the other (picture stadium-style seating). If you’re expecting twins, be sure to pick one that is made for two car seats. In-line double strollers are narrower than side-by-side double strollers, making them easier to navigate in tight doorways and crowded sidewalks. One seat may recline more and have more legroom and accessories, such as a cup holder, which can make your older child happy. Additionally, in some styles, kids can face each other so they can interact and talk.
- Convertible strollers: If you have a toddler and are expecting another baby, a convertible stroller may be a good choice. Convertible strollers generally start out as single strollers with the option to add additional seat configurations for a second (and sometimes even a third) child. Convertible strollers usually have an in-line design.

Though many double strollers are heavy, wide and sometimes difficult to maneuver, the City Mini is none of these things. While it is decently hefty at 36.5 pounds, it’s comparatively lighter than many other doubles and has plenty of features that make it a little easier to use, including a one-handed fold, adjustable handlebar, Forever Air rubber tires, all-wheel suspension and a hand-operated parking brake.
There’s also a variety of enviable extras, like peek-a-boo windows to check in on baby and an adjustable leg area to keep them comfortable as they grow. It has a relatively slim profile, too, slipping easily through standard 36-inch doorways.
Dimensions: 40.7 x 29.25 x 42.25 inches
Weight: 36.5 pounds
Weight limit: 50 pounds per seat
"I have [the Baby Jogger City Select Double Stroller] for my girls who are now almost 8 months old. I can tell you that it is my most used and most useful purchase I've made for them. It is the only way I can take them out by myself. I used it for the first 6 months with the car seat adapters and now that they are in convertible seats we use the regular seats. I recommend it to everyone."

Reviews
This sleek convertible stroller can be outfitted from a single bassinet to a side-by-side double stroller or with one seat facing in — and everything in between. It easily transforms from a single to a double stroller in three quick clicks and works with a car seat converter, too.
Parents love that your little ones can sit side-by-side or face one another with this stroller, rather than one sitting in front of the other, for instance. Plus, the foam tires never bust, so you won’t have to worry about getting a flat when you’re out and about, and the narrow frame makes it easy to navigate tight spaces. The Donkey 5 is even more maneuverable than its predecessor (the Donkey 3) and is highly customizable.
Weight: 32.8 pounds
Weight limit: 48.5 pounds per seat
Dimensions: 33.5 x 29 x 43.7 inches for the lowest handlebar position, 41.7 x 29 x 43.7 inches for the highest
"I'd say overall the bugaboo donkey is the best pram in terms of comfort and sturdiness- I've tried a couple others which didn't come close. It provides a smooth ride for your babies even over bumpy terrains and it's safe- you won't worry about it tipping over. The brakes are excellent and you can stop it from veering to either side by using its side brakes."

You can’t beat this umbrella-style double stroller when it comes to affordability. The Delta Children City Street LX is surprisingly durable and easy to maneuver and fold for the price point, though some taller parents say the handles are on the low side.
Another plus: Its narrow frame means it's one of the few side-by-side double strollers that can fit through most doorways. It’s low frills with only cup holders (no trays), small canopies and zero underseat storage. It fits kids up to 35 pounds each.
Dimensions: 37.30 x 29.60 x 31.20 inches
Weight: 21.38 pounds
Weight limit: 70 pounds total
"[Delta Children Side by Side Stroller] is so small, light and easy... It's the best, it takes up no room in my trunk. It doesn't have an under basket, so I put stroller hooks on the handle bars for items."

Active parents will appreciate the smoothness of the ride this all-terrain side-by-side double jogging stroller gives. Thanks to the adjustable suspension system and swivel locking front wheel that glides around corners, your little ones might even fall asleep during your jog.
The padded handle bar is adjustable to nine positions, so it’s guaranteed to be a fit no matter your height — and it's easy to change up on the fly. The seats recline and there’s a large underseat storage area. It has a maximum weight of 100 pounds.
Dimensions: 48 x 30.5 x 45 inches
Weight: 33 pounds
Weight limit: 100 pounds
"[I recommend] the BOB Revolution Flex Duallie. Hubby is 6 feet 2 inches and can adjust the handle, so it’s comfortable for him. It’s so smooth and pushes so easily. My toddler and baby weigh 50 pounds combined at this point and it still pushes easily. I use it daily for walks and used it with an infant seat for 4-5 months. I’ve never had an issue!"

If portability is a top priority for you, consider a lightweight double stroller like the Zoe The Twin+. While this umbrella stroller is collapsible and weighs 19 pounds, it can hold kids as young as 3 months old and up to 45 pounds.
This double stroller is already primed for two little ones, but it can expand to a triple or even a quad stroller with the addition of an expandable tandem seat, giving your family plenty of room to grow. It also features many other bells and whistles, such as cup holders, a storage basket, canopies, harness strap covers, a reclining seat, peekaboo windows and more.
Extra plus: It's Disney approved, meaning you won't have to downsize if you go to the Magic Kingdom for vacation.
Dimensions: 29 x 33 x 40.25 inches
Weight: 19 pounds
Weight/age limit: 3 months to 45 pounds (per seat)
"I love how lightweight and compact my Zoe is! Only negative is that it only goes well on smooth surfaces."

For parents who have one child but know they want a second in the near future, the Joolz Geo2 Earth Mono Stroller is a versatile full-size option to consider.
The Joolz is a single stroller at its core, but easily converts to a double stroller when baby number two is born. Plus, if a third little one comes along, parents can add on the ride-on Joolz Footboard, making room for three.
We love that this stroller can be used from birth up to 40 pounds, plus the fact that it can be a toddler stroller, a pram for newborns or an infant car seat carrier. However, parents who prioritize stroller weight might want to look elsewhere — this stroller clocks in at 30 pounds.
Dimensions: 35 x 24 x 22 inches
Weight: 31 pounds
Weight limit: 50 pounds
"I really like it. Adjustable handle goes higher than other pushchairs so it suits tall people. I'm 5' 10" and my husband is 6'. Easy to push on all terrain. Easy to assemble/put away. Easy to clean and wipe down."

Though it’s more of an investment at the start, if you know you’re having twins or that you plan on having a second little lovebug, this double stroller is money well spent.
The Baby Jogger City Select converts from a single stroller to an in-line double, and offers an impressive 20 different combos of seating with car seats, bassinets, single seats and more. It’s especially cute to have both seats facing in so your tots can pretend they’re on a train ride.
Car seat and bassinet converters are sold separately, but the second seat is included. Best of all, both seats recline, no matter which direction they’re facing. Each seat holds a child up to 45 pounds.
Dimensions: 43.5 x 25.75 x 38.5 inches
Weight: 34 pounds
Weight limit: 45 pounds per seat
"Super easy to fold/unfold. And great navigation."

This is an in-line stroller that has both sit and stand capabilities to lend plenty of flexibility to your growing family. You can also add a rear seat — sold separately. And a universal car seat adapter fits most major brands.
Unlike other doubles, it’s not at all cumbersome. At just 22 pounds, it’s actually lighter than some single strollers. It folds into a compact package suited for storing, though you will need two hands for the task. We love that there’s plenty of storage, plus a parent organizer, too.
Dimensions: 25.6 x 23.6 x 46.5 inches
Weight: 22 pounds
Weight limit: 90 pounds
"I love it. It’s really maneuverable and folds up pretty small for a double stroller."
