Time for a label check: Several types of snack products have been added to the list of those affected by the recent Jif peanut butter voluntary recall that began on May 20.

A G Specialty Foods

The Oregon-based company has recalled products distributed from May 11, 2022 through May 23, 2022 with lot numbers 129 to 141.

The list of products containing possible salmonella contamination include:

  • "The Goods” Snack Pack
  • We Be PB & Jammin’ Snack Box
  • Peanut Butter Strawberry Jam Old Fashioned White Bread
  • Peanut Butter Strawberry Jam White Bread containing the Jif Creamy Peanut Butter
  • Jif Creamy Peanut Butter To Go 1.5oz cups
  • Jif Natural Creamy Peanut Butter To Go 1.5oz cups
  • Smuckers Peanut Butter 3/4oz cups 

The Coblentz Chocolate Company

Candies and other snacks included in this recall were sold between November 12, 2021 and May 21, 2022. Customers are eligible for a full refund at the place of purchase or can contact the company at 1-800-338-9341. The impacted lot numbers include 1315 to 2140.

Euphoria Chocolate is voluntarily recalling products distributed in Oregon to retailers and supermarkets from February 17, 2022 to May 20, 2022. A list of recalled products are listed below:

Fresh Seasons

Taher Inc. is recalling 6.3-ounce packages of their Fresh Seasons Power Packs. The affected products were were distributed in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin in retail stores and vending machines.

Affected products have lot numbers 135 to 142 on the bottom with expiration dates ranging from May 24 to May 31, 2022.

Fudgeamentals is voluntarily recalling fudge packaged in 8-ounce plastic containers and 16-ounce plastic trays. Some of the recalled items were sold at Walmart.

Mary's Harvest is voluntarily recalling perishable Celery Peanut Butter Cups and Apple Peanut Butter Cups that were made with Jif peanut butter. The recalled products were distributed in Oregon and Washington to retailers and supermarkets from February 19, 2022 and May 23, 2022.

This recall affects 795, 8-ounce boxes of products that contain peanut butter. They were sold at the Wilbur Chocolate store in Lititz, Pennsylvania, and online at Wilburbuds.com between February 9, 2022 and March 28, 2022.

Why is the Jif peanut butter recall happening? 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that a salmonella outbreak at the J.M. Smucker facility in Lexington, Kentucky, caused 14 reported illnesses in 12 states. While two people were hospitalized, no deaths have been linked to the recall. The FDA's investigation is ongoing.

The lot codes from the initial recall are 1274425 to 2140425, only if the first seven digits end with 425 and the product was manufactured in Lexington, Kentucky.

Worried about the food in your own kitchen? Follow these tips to keep yourself and your family safe:

  • Scan your products at home. Check your Jif peanut butter at home and additional snacks and candies from the lot numbers above. When a food product is officially recalled, federal agencies and retailers will provide detailed instructions on which items — by lot numbers, sell-by or use-by dates, and other information — consumers should fix, toss away or return.
  • Check official sources. Stay up-to-date with recent recalls at Recalls.gov. You can sign up for email alerts to get notified about future ones right away.
If you think you or your child consumed a recalled product, call your practitioner. You should also be aware of the symptoms of salmonella poisoning, which can include abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, dehydration, headaches, muscle pains and blood in the stool.
