Carter’s has issued a voluntary recall affecting over 50,000 pairs of pajamas over concerns of small wire pieces possibly cutting children.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recall is for one particular style of fleece pajamas, the Infant's Yellow Footed Fleece Pajamas with Animal Graphic. Small pieces of metal wire were found in some sets of pajamas that were sold in both the U.S. and Canada, which could puncture children. Although no injuries were reported, Carter’s and the CPSC recommend immediately returning any recalled pajamas.
What to do if you own fleece pajamas from Carter’s
It’s important to note that the recall is for just one particular style — yellow footed fleece pajamas with hearts all over and a graphic of a pink animal on the front (pictured above). The recalled units were sold between July and September 2022 in sizes 12M, 18M and 24M and may have been purchased directly from Carter’s or other retailers, including Kohl’s, Macy’s and Boscov’s.
If you own a pair, you’ll want to check the care tag sewn on the inside of the body of the pajamas to find the style number and UPC number to see if they’re part of the recall. According to the Carter’s website, all recalled pajamas have a style number of 1O102410 and UPC codes of either 195861313861, 195861313878 or 195861313885.
If you’re confused where to look, we've included examples below from Carter’s of where each number is located on the tag:
Anyone whose pajamas are part of the recall can bring them to the nearest Carter’s store for a full refund in the form of a gift card. You can also submit an online recall form on their website if you’d prefer to ship the product back.
